Adjacent to materia vibrant (sonora), return, a small illumination that delivers the presence of ants - one of the planet’s most abundant lifeforms - to the mind of the viewer. For Ferracin, who encountered these particular creatures while in Brazil, these little actors serve as metaphorical carriers delivering the substances she collected for materia vibrant (sonora) back to their places of origin. The ants restore natural order, return the world to balance.

This tiny presence is also a signal from one artist to another - a silent semaphore of acknowledgement and thanks. Ferracin went to Brazil because of the inspiration she felt in the works of Brazilian artist Rivane Neuenschwander whose film project Quarta-feira de Conzas/Epilogue (2006) features the same ant species carrying colourful sugar discs and sequins.
